March 2015 Blog Hop - Papertrey Ink

Hello,
Well if I hurry I am just going to get my entry posted to the March 2015 Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink before it closes in a wee bit.  I will also be linking this up to Darnell's "NBUS" challenge too a few minutes later.

I love this month's Blog Hop inspiration photo! One of my goals this year is to make some time to play along with all of the wonderful inspiration Papertrey Ink has to offer.  Today my son had a 1/2 day of school so I carved out a wee bit of time this evening to play along....

Here is the inspiration photo:

I was inspired by the colors of the photo immediately and also by the many patterns.

Here is my card using my new "Quilted Spring" stamp set and dies along with another set called "Birds and Blooms" which was the PTI 2013 Anniversary set. This is the first time I have used the Quilted Spring stamp set so it qualifies for Danell's NBUS challenge! Thanks Darnell for hosting!  :)

And a close up....I added the green sprig and tiny hearts to the quilt areas using the Birds and Blooms stamp set.  I love the way this added additional details to the quilt block!  I tried several ideas out and this was the one that I liked the best.  Just as I was finishing the quilt block I dropped a limeade ice inked dauber onto the white area of the die-cut quilt block.  I ended up inking over the entire quilt block very lightly in limeade ice to "fix" the problem area.  I love the way it turned out.  To me it looks like a quilt that has been washed many times and is shabby and loved - like all of the quilts in my home!
Thanks for taking a look at my card!
I am off to hop around to see everyone's projects! Happy blog hop day with Papertrey Ink!  And thanks to my lovely friend Darnell for hosting her NBUS challenge #4!

I hope you will join in with some of your "Never Before Used Schtuff" too! And if you have never visited her blog before you are in for a treat!  She has one of the best blog voices on the planet! She always makes me smile or even laugh out LOUD!!!!

Hugs,
Jill

  8. I just got this stamp set too and your card is definitely an inspiration. I've often had to fix ink smudges on cards, but your solution is perfect and adds a vintage touch to the 'quilt'!

  14. Don't you feel moved when you are making a card and something goes "wrong," but for some reason you stay calm and just work to make it right and in the end your card is way prettier than the one you had envisioned?! I know I'm as mad as a box of rocks, but there are times when it seems like I'm just playing Ouija board and the card is making itself. In this case, Jill, I love how your booboo ended up making your quilt look well-loved and vintage! And I adore your sweet detail of the added leaf on each side! Thank you so much for your very kind compliments and for playing in my NBUS Challenge #4!! Mwah and Hugs, Darnell
