Papertrey Ink August 2013 Blog Hop

Hello Friends,
Here with a card for the August 2013 PTI blog hop!  Here is the inspiration I chose to work with:

This is the only card I have made this whole weekend and I struggled from beginning to end!  I do not craft well when I am overtired!  LOL!  And for some reason having to follow the sketch and color story was making me struggle even more when you would think it would be the opposite!!!  I think I need to add a dark brown mat behind the sentiment panel or something!  This would be a great card for the Stamp-A-Faire remix I think because to me something is a wee bit off!!!  But at least I made something!  :)

Enjoy hopping around!  I can't even get to the in-linkz list to upload my card or to see who has uploaded because Nichole's site keeps going down on me.  Maybe I can hop around and look tomorrow!

Good Night!
:) Jill

  1. Don't you hate it when the mono goes well! But I really like what you came up with. I think it has a cosy, vintage feel and is just right.

  2. I like this, Jill! Love the monochrome look.

  3. Very pretty love the neutral palette!

  4. The neutrals are wonderful, Jill! Love your little scene!

  5. Sorry you had such frustration with your card, Jill. I so know what you mean!

I think the layout is perfect, and I love the textured card base and all the elements your have added. The only thing I can think of is maybe the focus is too centered on the center and the eye just gets stuck on the button? What about if you outline the sidewalk or color the tree leaves in that darkest color - or add a couple rhinestones to the lower right corner? Just some way to draw the eye from the center button over and down to the house. Does that make any sense?

I won't be offended if you think I'm off kilter myself and just delete this, because, like, what do I know? And besides, um, LOL, in point of fact, you didn't really ASK for advice!!

    1. Darnell you are so sweet! I love your ideas! I hate crafting when it doesn't come easy and flow! And it definitely did not this time! :)

  6. Oh I love this card, Jill! Been thinking I want this stamp set and after seeing what you created, I KNOW it :)
PS: I had probs with Nicole's Blog last night too, thought it was my computer getting ready to crash :-O

  7. I'm sorry this didn't make it to the Blog Hop post Jill - I love the rustic feel of your card!

  8. Fabulous card Jill...looks like you two had a fun day. We did not get much done either but it was just fun to set a day aside to hang out and play.

  9. LOVE your card inspired by the chocolate chip cookies! Super design and look!

  10. Very pretty, Jill - Soothing colors, and a delight design - I feel like I'm going for a ride in the country on a fall day. Love that button, leaves and the vertical saying. hugs, de

  11. Pretty card Jill! love the woodsy colors on this!

  12. This card is fabulous, and I would not have known you were having trouble. It is lovely, although you should still consider submitting it to Remix next year, because you will $25 if you are chosen!

  13. I know I saw this card , maybe I forgot to comment. This card is beautiful in the browns . I think you picked a great stamp for those colors.
No fun when it's a struggle. Thats when I leave the mess and walk out of the room.
