Paper Sweeties Challenge: May 2017 - Anything Goes

It's the beautiful month of May my friends! Here in the Pacific Northwest we are still waiting for some warmer days above the 50's but the spring flowers are in full bloom which makes me smile each morning as I walk through my garden while drinking my morning coffee....at least on the mornings it isn't raining!  Since it is May 1st it is also time for a new challenge at Paper Sweeties:

I just love this sweet vase filled with beautiful roses! I hope it inspires you to create something and play along with us!  You can create anything you would like and link up on our Facebook page:  Paper Sweeties Create and Share  in our MAY Monthly Challenge Photo Album.  Or you can link via our blog too.

I was in need of some sympathy cards this week so I used the challenge inspiration to create some very special cards for family....

For this card I used the heart border die from the Sweet Borders Sweet Cuts set to create a background.  I die cut multiple rows of the heart border die on my card panel.  I then backed the panel with a pink striped paper and inlaid the die cuts back into the panel along with half of the hearts.  This allows the patterned paper to show through on just some of the hearts.

Next I die cut two prim shaped hearts out of a very old Sissix Steel Rule Die in a pretty floral patterned paper.  I wanted the hearts to represent  a "Mother" and "Daughter" relationship on the card.  If you do not have a Primitive Heart Die you could use this pattern that I found on Pinterest or even hand draw a free form heart shape or two:

Or another option for a beautiful sympathy card focal point is the lovely "Sweet Cuts With Love" heart die set:

I wanted to make some sympathy cards with this die set too but I ran out of time.  I like to have several sympathy cards on hand in my stash because I find it hard to create them at the time I really need them.

To complete my card I stamped a banner using the "Be Happy" stamp set.  I added the sentiment "Heartfelt Sympathy" from the "Thinking of You" stamp set.  I then added some "diamond" stickles to finish this card.

My other two cards are very similar with just a gingham patterned paper as the background.

That is it for me today.  I now get to send you along on our wonderfully inspiring monthly challenge blog hop:
