Hello Blog Friends,
Wow!!! I have not posted in quite a while for me. School started and I came down with a horrible cold which went into my lungs and has had me up at night coughing for a few hours for the past couple of weeks. (My asthma and allergies tend to complicate colds every time!!!) So I apologize for sort of disappearing from blog land. It has been all I could do to keep up with getting my son to and from school and attending a variety of school/church related meetings along with a lovely visit from my husband's parents over a long weekend. It has been 7 months now since my beloved Stuart passed away and I am learning that being a single parent means that you have to keep going even when you are really sick, which in turn means that one doesn't seem to bounce back quite as fast. Of course it may also have to do with the fact that I am closer to 50 years old than 40 now?! Naw, that can't be it! LOL!!! Anyway I am sure that I missed many, many beautiful cards made by all of you over the past couple weeks but I hope to start having some "blog" time to come and visit now and see all of the beautiful things that you have made!!!
September is a HUGE birthday month in my family and I need 3 birthday cards for tonight. 1 for my nephew Russell, one for my sweet Dad, and one for my neice Ruby. So I decided to use the new Make it Monday #84 challenge over at Papertrey Ink for a little bit of inspiration. Betsy did a wonderful video on "Reflected Sentiments" today and I made two masculine cards (so far) utilizing this technique. Here are some pictures:
Thanks for taking a look at my cards. I have to make one more for my neice today and will hopefully have time to post it later. I get to pull out some "girl" stamps now and get to work!
Supplies used on the above cards:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink: Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream, and Kraft
Ink: Tuxedo Black, Real Red, Certainly Celery, Hawaiian Shores
Stamps: Papertrey Ink: Boy Basics: Game On; Tag-its #1, Think Big Favorites #16, Star Prints, Say it with Style
Other: Buttons: Papertrey Ink; Foam tape, Ad-tech adhesive, corner chomper from We R Memory Keepers
: ) Smiles,
Jill

Jill,
ReplyDeleteGreat masculine cards. I did not know about your husband and am sorry for your loss. God Bless.
Hahaha, we're in the same boat! I disappeared from blog land right when school started and just in the last few days have been trying to catch up! What a comeback though. Jill, I love your cards, especially your "celebrate" one. That's the perfect stamp for this technique ... it's big and thick enough that it doesn't matter so much that the reflection is not too clear. Love how you made it into a pattern too.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jill, BOTH of thes manly cards are just FANTASTIC! LOVE how you used that technique! LOVE the colors and how they are so different from each other! Hope you feel BETTER soon! Glad you were able to spend some time with Stuart's parents. I'll bet it was both wonderful and difficult. Thinking of you! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birthday cards Jill! Love the pretty color combination! Sending get well wishes your way :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cards Jill. I am always looking for ideas for masculine cards because I seem to struggle with them so much. Thanks for the inspiration and take care of yourself!!
ReplyDeleteThese are both fun, and yeah for PTI for sharing them on their FB page.

ReplyDeleteWoohoo - first post in a while & you get a nice shout out from PTI! Love the colors & stamps you choose Jill - the MIM reflection technique turned out great! Hope you get over the cold soon - when they dig in deep, they can take forever to clear.

Oh, gosh, Jill! I'm so, so sorry that you've been feeling so icky. It's so hard to be a Mom and take care of everything and everyone, when you're under the weather. Hang in there! Your cards are just beautiful! Really love all the fantastic stamping! And the colors are so bold and bright and happy! Blessings!
