Just a quick post today.....some very dear friends of ours lost their home in a fire on Monday in the very early morning. Thankfully their entire family made it out safely but their home is pretty much a total loss. Having been through a flood in the 1990's in which I lost pretty much everything but the clothes on my back I know how very devastating it is to go through something like this! Our homes are our places of comfort and security and they are filled with so many memories and mementos. It is very hard when you begin to realize all you have lost - even though you are grateful for your lives being saved. So last night after finding out where they are staying I took them a gift (and some homemade chocolate chip cookies because times like these call for comfort food and my other girlfriend was already bringing their dinner!) to help them and their son through this very difficult time! My heart and prayers are with them! I am so glad they are all safe!
Here is the card that I gave to them:
My dear friend Rebecca who blogs at PaperPrimrose.com sent me a lovely gift the other day and that sweet little rosebud embellishment on top of the snowflake is from her. Isn't it adorable! Thanks Rebecca! I had to make this card so fast because I had nothing in my card stash that was right....and I see that I missed popping out a few of the little "chads" in my heart diecut..oops! Hopefully they won't notice! That is what happens when you are trying to make a card, bake cookies, and help your little one with homework all at the same time! LOL!!!!
Hugs,
:) Jill

What a beautiful card. The paper is gorgeous along with the heart die-cut.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your friend's house.
What a thoughtful gift...and having you having been through something similar, I am sure your friends really appreciated your visit. Beautiful card and I can see that even with all of our stamps and sentiments...it would be very hard to have the right words to say to your friends. You said it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteOh Jill~ How wonderful for your friends that they have people like you to understand, support and love them through the devastation. What a perfect card to give them along with your friendship and let's not forget chocolate chip cookies!!! Nothing like a boost to seratonin at times like that ;) ((BIG hugs)) Rebecca
ReplyDeleteOh Jill! What a sad thing to go through! How thoughtful of you to bring them some comfort at this difficult time. Your card is simply gorgeous in every way.......as are you!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Jill, this is awful news. I will keep this family in my prayers. Blessings to all of you that are offering that much needed comfort. Your card is lovely, you can see the love and warmth in it.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jill, how awful! We had a friend who's home burned down right before Christmas and he stayed with us until he could figure things out. His daughter was there for Christmas and they found her burned toys in the yard. It was devastating. You are a Dear Sweet friend to make that card and bake cookies and go see them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful card for your friend & her family at this awful time...They are in my thoughts too... blessings... Hugs May x x
ReplyDeleteYou are right Jill about being a huge devastation. What a sweet thing to do by taking cookies. They are always comforting especially for the children. Your card is beautiful as always. Ana
ReplyDeleteI wish your friend and family all the best as they plan what to do next. So glad they are all safe! You are truly a wonderful friend and the act of visiting (with homemade cookies too) and a card will bring them extra comfort. Your card is just perfect! The sentiment is just right..
ReplyDeleteWow, Jill, what a devastating loss for both you and your friend. I can not imagine, even if I tried really hard, what that would be like. I am such a saver of everything.
