Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 16 - Frame It

Hello,
I am entering the "Frame It" Challenge over at the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog:  HERE

I decided to make a small wall hanging after much debating with myself this afternoon in my craft room.  I lost my husband to cancer 10 days ago and this is the first thing that I have created since he passed.  I am trying to remind myself that his love gave me wings to fly and that I need to keep on keeping on....for him and for our family.  It wasn't until I decided to make something dedicated to him that I was able to make anything at all.

Here are some pictures:

This is the frame I used from Cheery Lynn Designs for the challenge.  It is called "Scandanavian Hearts" and you can find it on their website:  HERE.  It is popped up from the design paper behind it with foam tape.
I used a piece of cardboard for the base of my wall hanging and a pipe cleaner for my hanger.

Here is a picture of the Kiwi Spirit Doily - purchase it: HERE.  I cut the die cut up into 3 pieces to make a second layer for my wings...see below.

I cut this set of wings (purchased at Frost it Pink: HERE) in half and.....

taped them to the back of my stamped image with scotch tape.

I then took the quarter doily pieces and fitted them to the underside of the wing, traced with a pencil and cut them down to fit underneath so that the wings would be two-layered and more substantial.

Here is a picture of the finished product.  I love the tag added to the top right with the rest of the sentiment:  "to fly".  This stamp set is from Verve Stamps and is called Wings of Love by Julee Tilman.   I added diamond stickles glitter glue to both parts of the wings on each side to give it some glitz and also popped everything up with tons of foam tape!  A couple of buttons and some adorable "cherry cupcake" trendy twine from Annie's Paper boutique: HERE  finish off the hanger made from a clear colored pipe cleaner and shaped with a "heart" hanger at the top.

Here is a close-up of the wings....the smaller wings were made to look like they are in flight by rolling a piece of foam tape in a circle and placing under the center part of the wing.

You can see the shadow created by the popped up portion of the wings...

Here is a short You Tube video I posted about this project:
NOTE:  To turn off music on my blog go to the very bottom of this post and place your cursor over the equal sign and press enter.  This will stop the music player.

That is it for me tonight.  It feels good to have spent a couple hours in my craft room.   Thanks for taking a look....
